About GuardKids

GuardKids.org is a data-driven resource dedicated to protecting children online through transparency, accountability, and public awareness.

Our Mission

Every year, tens of millions of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) reports are filed with NCMEC. Hundreds of thousands of sex offenders are registered across the United States. AI-generated abuse imagery is surging at an unprecedented rate. Yet much of this data is scattered across government reports, PDFs, and buried transparency pages.

GuardKids brings it all together in one place. We aggregate publicly available data from federal agencies, law enforcement, and platform transparency reports to create a comprehensive, accessible resource for parents, journalists, researchers, policymakers, and anyone who cares about child safety online.

We believe that accountability starts with transparency. When the data is visible, platforms can be graded, trends can be tracked, and the public can demand better.

Methodology

Our platform report cards grade major technology companies on a scale of A–F based on four key dimensions:

  • 1.
NCMEC Reporting Volume — How many CyberTipline reports does the platform file? Are numbers trending up or down, and does that reflect better detection or reduced scanning?
  • 2.
Safety Features — Does the platform proactively scan for CSAM? What parental controls, age verification, and moderation tools are in place?
  • 3.
Transparency — Does the platform publish regular, detailed transparency reports? Is there meaningful public accountability?
  • 4.
Legal Record — Has the platform faced lawsuits, fines, or regulatory action related to child safety? How have they responded?

Grades are editorial assessments based on publicly available evidence. They are not endorsed by any government agency.
